drip

The phrase “Drip” is short for “Dividend Reinvestment Plan”. But, just as the term implies, it is not simply a plan where money is invested in the stock market and then withdrawn at the end of a period of time. Rather, with a DRIP, the money that an investor invests in a particular company is reinvested repeatedly, making the overall investment in the company to increase little by little through the purchase of additional stock. To understand what this means, it will be necessary to put some simple economics to the term.
