longtail

In statistical and business, the term longtail is a part of the long tails of the distributions of counts of a number of occurrences more than the central tendency of the whole distribution. The distribution may involve random numbers, polarities, the probability of occurrence of unusual events of high magnitude, etc. It is usually derived from a logistic function. The long tail in statistics is also called as the Chebyschaft distribution, because of its characteristic. The long-tail distribution is a poor representation of the log-normal distribution, because it is surrounded by a wide range of values which deviate from those of the central value, namely a zero value around the extreme end of the interval. This type of distribution is particularly useful for exploratory data analysis, in which a focus on count data is made.
