DreamHost Review(2023): WordPress Recommend It, But Have Any Good?

DreamHost is a well-known web hosting company, so I wasn’t looking into them too hard or researching their reviews much before picking them for my blog. However, I liked that they had unlimited bandwidth and seemed like a great company.

DreamHost hosts over 1.5 million websites and is almost 25 years old.

DreamHost’s main shared web internet hosting plan includes popular apps like WordPress, website creation options, and their very personal and others like Wix or Weebly. These plans have unlimited bandwidth and storage space. And you get a full 97-day cash-again guarantee to try the service.

However, customer support is somewhat limited. Migrations are a pain that doesn’t allow imports from completely different cPanel websites and charges you $99 each.

What is DreamHost?

DreamHost is a huge web hosting company. It has been around since 1999 and was acquired by New Dream Network in 2014 (both DreamHost & DreamNetwork have the same owner).

DreamHost offers unlimited storage, bandwidth, and domain name, $100 free advertising credits for Google Adwords/Bing Ads to start with an online business. Dreamhost utilizes Nginx for server management, DreamCompute to run the platform. DreamHost also offers domain name registration services with discounts. Dreamhost is a good hosting provider but not the best web hosting service in 2019 that provides a great control panel called “Pantheon” and UI like cPanel & Plesk.

Dreamhost review
Dreamhost Review

Over the years, DreamHost has become famous for its generous 97-day money-back guarantee on shared hosting plans. They also introduced cloud hosting and computing services to expand their profile and improve reliability.

DreamHost is built by developers and is an innovative and robust web hosting company that caters to individual users and small businesses. Along with plenty of room in their plans for committed servers or VPSs, they support e-commerce sites such as BigCommerce & Magento (custom configurations).

Innovative resource where your business can find all it needs to thrive online: whether you’re a startup looking forward into the future or already established but want more than just shared web hosting – we’ve got what you need!

DreamHost Pricing and Plan

DreamHost’s starting price is $2.59 monthly, including one domain hosting, unlimited domains, unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, etc. In addition, DreamHost offers a free control panel to their customers for easy configuration of Cpanel or Plesk-based services along with Softaculous auto-installer script installer, which lets you install WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal, and many other scripts in a matter of minutes.

Dreamhost offers three different plans: DreamPress, DreamCompute, and DreamObjects, for their shared hosting. Dreampress is their shared hosting plan for WordPress-based sites. Dreamcompute is the virtual private hosting plan with a spin on it, and Dreamobjects is by far their most popular plan, managed object storage service… You can read more about each of them here. … But you are probably more interested in the pricing. I can’t blame you because the price is always a huge factor when choosing a web host.

Each package comes with different features and benefits, but they all have in common the free domain name for life, unlimited bandwidth (except dream objects we will talk about in just a minute), 24/7 support, and 1-click WordPress install. Of course, each plan does come with limitations, but I’ll get to that in a minute.

Pricing and plan
Pricing and Plan

From the pricing table, you can see that they have pretty standard pricing. You pay monthly for the plan you choose, and additional storage is extra. However, typically you can almost always get a discount by choosing annual billing. In that case, your first year is significantly cheaper than the other two years if you decide to stay with them for three years.

Which plan should I go with?

Well, it depends… Let me ask you some questions before we get into this: How big of a site are you planning on hosting? Do you want a Windows or Linux server?

Let’s talk about IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) first. If you were using this, I would suggest DreamCompute over DreamPress to give you more flexibility and save you money. In addition, you would be able to use it for more than a WordPress-based site. That is great because you will know that down the road, if your project doesn’t grow as much as you thought it would, then you won’t have “wasted” any money on something that you don’t need.

However, the last word on great data is that DreamHost doesn’t add value when it’s time to renew. Occasionally, another host may offer you a special low rate of a price or two a month for your early years.

However, when the time comes for your plan to be routinely renewed, the price in the subpage plans can go up to anywhere between $7 and $10 per month.

So in a single day, you pay two or three times more for the same precise service.

Your plan will renew at the same price that you originally signed up for. That means you may not save a ton in the first few years. As an alternative, however, you can save quite a lot of {{dollars}} in the long run.

Overview of DreamHost Features

DreamHost’s Shared Starter Opportunity starts at just $2.59/month. But it comes right out of the gate with a lot of features.

You get a website with a free domain name and SSL certificates. This site can take care of unlimited traffic (or bandwidth) and storage. DreamHost has a private internet site builder, often referred to as a remixer, but it also provides access to Sq. Space, Weebly, and Wix in their app library.

Besides, you will successfully find Joomla, PHP BB, Zen Cart, Drupal, Magento, Shopify, and Tumblr prepared for you too.

In addition, WordPress is pre-installed. Therefore, it’s pretty easy to set it up on most servers with a click of the setup option. However, it is ready to use when you sign up is correct for inexperienced web admins.

The remaining small piece of excellent data on these plans is that there is no delayed review system. The initial review of DreamHost required an information review that may wait for the service’s use for several hours after signing up.

Luckily, the customer service rep suggested that they only need to do additional verification steps if there is a problem and your fee.

It would be helpful if you came across the subpage successfully after signing up.

Unlimited Disk Space and Network Transfer Limits

DreamHost lists numerous “unlimited” features in terms of pricing and plans and storage and bandwidth.

That means that if your website becomes popular, you won’t have to worry about disk space or group swaps. Of course, this policy has several limitations. Even so, it’s primarily legitimate.

First and foremost, DreamHost should create your site accurately. When it comes to damaging server items and adding factors with completely different websites, they may be trying to switch you to their private servers as an alternative.

This complete policy does not cover DreamPress, VPS servers, and email. Emails are limited to a maximum of 2 GB, while MySQL databases also want to remain under “a few GB in size.” In other words, DreamHost’s shared servers are great for relatively small websites.

Carbon Neutral Hosting

You can add DreamHost to many Internet hosts listing that is trying to be environmentally conscious.

You may have heard of a few new eco-friendly technology companies, but not all are being as green with their efforts like they say they claim, and some even still use paper maps instead of GPS! And then there’s the issue about data storage, but this company has found an innovative way around it by using one renewable source – wind power! Wind energy for electricity production only makes up less than 2% in America today, so why limit ourselves?

However, they go way beyond the previous ones and just offset the carbon footprint of their servers. Your data equipment embodies “highly efficient” cooling and processors. In addition, they are involved in government clean wind packages to use renewable items. Their workplaces are LEED and EnergyStar licensed, and every half, from the lighting to the HVAC strategy, is also energy-friendly.

Average Speed is Slow

In the past 12 months, DreamHost has been hit with several data and customer service issues, leading to a decline in their average response load time. As a result, they now rank below the middle tier hosts we examined for load times at 1180 ms.

It’s a shame that DreamHost managed to get above-average speeds not that long ago. When it was at its best in the past, speed and reliability were always reliable for customers as they relied on these features every day. However, since this year began, everything has gone downhill with their service deteriorating each month which is unfortunate because many people have come to rely heavily on them only now – including me!

Average Uptime

DreamHost has a reputation for being one of the most reliable hosting sites in existence. Their 99.62% uptime rate indicates that they have been able to keep up with demand and ensure reliability among their customers since nearly all other providers have downtimes greater than 24 hours.

The great information, however, is that DreamHost has an uptime guarantee. As with entirely different hosts, if your more frequent monthly value falls below this threshold, you will receive credit for the value of the service. On the other hand, most hours of operation ensure that the 99.98% mark exceeds. So these hosts consider and stand behind their services. Nevertheless, they give themselves leeway if frequent fluctuations occur.

However, DreamHost guarantees 100% availability of the Terms of Use. Remember that this warranty does not cover planned maintenance or customer errors.

However, another DreamHost downside that appears alongside your website, database, email, or webmail can trigger the warranty. You will receive a free service day for every hour of business interruption. The only catch is that there is a maximum of 10% of your “next prepaid hosting renewal fee” (which ultimately applies to a retrospective low price or a retrospective refund).

Last 12-month frequent uptime:
  • January 2021: 100%
  • December 2020: 99.99%
  • November 2020: 100%
  • October 2020: 100%
  • September 2020: 99.78%
  • August 2020: 99.62%
  • July 2020: 99.84%
  • June 2020: 99.98%
  • May 2020: 99.93%
  • April 2020: 99.98%
  • March 2020: 96.48%
  • February 2020: 99.96%

No “Free” Migrations.”

DreamHost does not offer free site migrations for shared web hosting plans, so they’re effortless to manage.

Dreamhost is great because it offers the easiest-to-manage service available on the market today! They don’t bother you with tedious migration processes or complicated one-click installs–you get all of your domain management and website generation taken care of without any hassle whatsoever, thanks to DreamHost’s user-friendly interface that lets you handle everything from a single dashboard.

Instead, you get a one-time fee of $99 to maneuver each site. This process can add up for people trying to maintain different buyer or agency accounts simultaneously.

There are several completely different restrictions on how paid migration services work. Multisite WordPress websites cannot move in the case of WordPress.com transmissions, only content material recorded in posts or pages. So you will be reinstalling and setting up your theme and plugins.

Wix, Weebly, or Squarespace sites used to create web pages cannot move all areas. However, they provide some documentation on how to switch your location manually.

However, this is not very satisfactory when most completely different services do all the heavy lifting for you.

In addition to these two options, DreamHost also offers three managed WordPress hosting plans. DreamHost also has VPS and dedicated servers.

DreamHost Customer Support

Fortune 500 companies are not immune to the difficulties associated with managing their factors. That’s why they depend on Factors4U for all of their needs!

  • Provides a database and dialog boxes that allow clients to handle everything from data input, sending it in bulk or piecemeal as needed – even if you’re only dealing with one factor at a time.
  • Offers “24/7 internal support” which is always available when your company faces any unforeseen challenges such as those posed by scaling issues.
  • The reviews speak volumes about how effective this service really is: Fortune 500 companies rely on them everyday because they can’t afford anything less than perfection.

Customer Support

You’re trying to automate the keep chat course with a factor that mimics a phone tree in entirely different sentences. We tried to bypass these options to get a product seller asap. But no one was available at the time we tried.

So most likely not “24/7” then. These hours (8 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday) overlap with business hours in most time zones in the United States, but not for people in many parts of the world.

We wanted to come back later in these hours to test the tactics one more time. It took a few minutes for a product seller to finally be a part of it, and they were very educated and helpful. But, unfortunately, it’s an essential leap over hoops (currently at certain times) to even gain access to anyone.

DreamHost Money-Back Guarantee

If you’re looking for a provider with an ironclad refund policy, then look no further than the vast majority of all 40+ internet hosts we have reviewed. Almost every single company on our list offers a 30-day trial period before requiring any contribution from you – giving your family plenty of time to test their services and assess whether or not they are suitable for your needs without risking anything.

HostGator offers a 45-day refund on all purchases, and if you’re not satisfied with their service or the product, then your investment will fully refund!

DreamHost is the host for all your hosting needs. And with its 97-day money-back guarantee, you have plenty of time to make sure you’re enjoying yourself during that stay!

DreamHost has no hidden phrases or frames to jump over, which could put your refund at risk. Additionally, you can probably pay month after month and cancel at any time with Dreamhost – an internet hosting company that is very unusual in the web industry.

DreamHost Alternatives

Web hosting providers’ solutions are the most common alternatives that users and reviewers compare to DreamHost. Other essential factors to consider when looking for other options to DreamHost are price, features, and email.

We’ve compiled a list of solutions chosen by reviewers as the best overall alternatives and competitors to DreamHost, including Hostwinds, Bluehost, Cloudways. These all offer premium services for an affordable price that will leave any small business owner feeling confident about deciding on what they need to create or maintain their presence online.

Conclusion

There’s a saying that goes, “what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.” DreamHost is no exception to this. Despite its recent downturn in speed and up-time for the past year, it has always been reliable when we needed them most before. That leads us to believe their current slump will be short-term at best!

Many of our customers cannot afford to upgrade, so when their web hosting plan renews, they are stuck with the same old thing. In addition, there is no need for us to improve because we’re already famous and offer many “unlimited” options like storage space and bandwidth.

The customer care options are limited to a few hours during the day and sometimes at night. Additionally, if you’re migrating sites on your own with cPanel, it can be expensive, depending on how often you do so.
